我的老家在苏北农村，苏北大家都知道鱼米之乡，到处是湖泊河流。
80年代的时候，河水很干净，一般的河沟里面都有野生的菱角。
每年暑假的时候，孩子们三三两两的，相约定去采菱角。
我们那里还有一个习惯，放暑假去外婆家过一段时间。记得那天我在外婆家，我的两个表哥叫上我一起去采菱角，我们农村家家都有一个洗衣服用的大木盆，放在河里大点的木盆可以载两个小孩子，一般我们都是用这个工具去采菱角。
大表哥把木盆放在灌溉渠里，顺流而下，我跟二表哥在堤坝上面走，正走着，突然从堤坝边上一户人家里窜出一只“黄鼠狼”（我们是这样认为的，因为每年冬天我们这里就有人专门抓黄鼠狼，收购站收黄鼠狼的皮，黄鼠狼放屁臭不可闻，别人抓黄鼠狼我们会跟着看热闹，所以当时认为是黄鼠狼），当时的地理位置也比较特殊，正好在灌溉渠桥边，二表哥当时就抄了黄鼠狼的后路，把它往灌溉渠里赶，大表哥在灌溉渠里面划他的大木盆，我迅速跑过桥对面在那边守着。黄鼠狼慌不择路，跳进灌溉渠，一看灌溉渠里居然有一个人，赶紧游向对岸，谁知道我正准备好砖头在对岸等着呢，它回灌溉渠又不敢，叫的声音像鸟一样，叽叽喳喳的，被我两砖头给拍死了。
傍晚的时候，我们满载而归，采了一大盆菱角，还抓了一只黄鼠狼，当时一个黄鼠狼的皮可以卖两三元钱，对于我们三，可是一笔巨款。谁知道外婆一看黄鼠狼大惊失色，大叫不得了了，三个伢把大仙打死了，马上跑出去找村里的老人来商量对策。
我到现在也不知道黄鼠狼和狐的区别，村里的老人们告诉我们，我们打死的不是黄鼠狼，是狐，是大仙，大仙是惹不起的，要出事的。
老人们商量了一个处理方法，要村里年龄最长的老人一刀砍断狐的脖子，还不能身首分家，要连一点皮。然后扔给黑狗，要没有杂毛的黑狗，这样可保我们三无事。
为什么这样做我不知道，当时就是这样处理的，我们三个心惊胆战的很多天，什么事都没有，狐跑出来的那户人家确发生了很大的变化，本来那户人家的女人常年有病，久治不愈，家里供着观音，香火不断，我们打死狐后，身体不治而愈。
