我上大学那会儿，有一年的暑假没回家，决定在大学所在的城市打打工，赚点生活费。于是通过中介，我找到一份在火锅店做服务员的兼职。
刚去火锅店上班时我什么都不会，领班给我指派了师傅教我。虽然叫她师傅，其实她比我还小一岁，因为初中毕业就在外闯荡，所以见多识广，为人处世都很老成，这点让我很佩服。我跟着师傅在店里干了三五天，所有的服务礼节基本都掌握了。出师那天我特意请师傅吃了顿饭。席间师傅给我讲了她在火锅店一年来的工作经历以及各种注意事项，末了还特意嘱咐我以后上班没事最好少去西大厅。
我们的这家火锅店由东西两个大厅组成。因为夏季是火锅的淡季，所以店里的西大厅没有对客开放，我们平时也基本上不会去那边，所以那次饭后我也没把师傅的话放在心上。
一天中午，我负责的一桌客人吃到很晚才结账走人，等我收拾好桌子准备休息时，不巧东大厅所有的包间都已经被早就下班休息的同事占满了。困意当头，无奈之下我悄悄溜到西大厅随便找了间包间进去午睡。
这是我在这家火锅店打工以来第一次来西大厅的包间，里面布局同东大厅一样，一张十人座的圆桌和双人沙发，不同的是桌椅沙发以及房间的墙壁都是很正的朱红色，虽然漂亮，但看久了总会觉得有一股邪性不安的味道。但想到一会儿还要上班，再加上西大厅里也有几个同事凑在一起看《我和僵尸有个约会》，所以我没想太多，往沙发上一躺，很快就睡着了。
也不知睡了多久，隐约间我突然听到有人在小声哭泣，声音虽低我却听得很清楚，而且能判断那绝不是女人的声音。我睡不着睁开眼正欲寻找声源时，包间的门突然开了，门外站若一个人。当时应该是下午三点钟左右，虽然包间里的灯未开，但昏暗中从身材上判断我依然能分辨出门外站的是个男人。我以为是某同事也找房间午睡，正准备起身打招呼，却突然发现我根本动弹不得！我的大脑一片空白，我不知道自己怎么了，甚至连手指也抬不起来。只见那人关上门慢慢向我走过来，一步一步，愈走愈近，可他的脸却仿佛在雾气之中根本看不清。我不知道他是谁，可当我再次听到那种鸣鸣的低泣声时，一种莫名的恐惧浮上心头，然而我却动弹不得，只能静静等待他一点一点靠近我！
我害怕极了，想大声呼救，我知道在大厅里看电视的同事们就与我一墙之隔。可更糟的是即使我用尽力气也根本发不出任何声音。此时，那个男人已经站在了沙发前，缓缓弯下腰把脸贴向我。虽然近在咫尺，他的脸仍旧如同浮在水汽之中。没有棱角看不真切。再或者，换句话说……眼前的这个人根本就没有五官！我深吸一口气，努力让自己镇定下来，再集中了全身力量，猛地用力往上一提，我能动了！那一瞬间眼前的男人也突然消失了一般，屋子里依旧是朱红色的墙壁、桌椅和沙发，仿佛一切都没有发生过，然而我的后背早已冷汗涔涔了。我逃一样地跑出包间，看着大厅里安静地看着电视的同事们，连我都突然开始怀疑刚刚所发生的一切是不是梦了。
那之后我再也没有去过西大厅，也更不敢在西大厅的包间里午睡。时间再久一点，我甚至已经把那一切当做是一场梦，渐渐淡忘掉了。
几个星期后，一天中午轮到我自己值班，接待休息时间来就餐的客人。店里为了省电，只开了大厅里靠近客人桌子的吊灯，其他地方都被笼罩在一片黑暗中。我靠着客人餐桌旁的墙壁打着哈欠，不经意瞄了眼大厅西北角的厨房，居然看到一个男人直愣愣地站在那儿。黑暗中虽然看不清他的五官和表情，可是一种直觉让我肯定他一直在看着我！一瞬间我头皮发麻全身触电一般，一下子想到了几星期前在西大厅包间里看到的那个男人！再定睛一看，站在那儿的男人又消失了。天！他到底是谁？难道又一次是我的幻觉？
那个时候我的好奇心已经战胜恐惧，我大着胆子慢慢摸到厨房。此时厨房里一个人也没有，只有一盏昏暗的日光灯一闪一闪，不停地发出刺啦的声音。我正想离开，突然闻到一股刺鼻的煤气味，才发现原来炉子上的一壶水早已烧开浇灭了火。
当晚喝酒时我终于忍不住把遇到的事情前前后后告诉了师傅，本以为师傅听了会一笑了之，不想她却一脸的凝重。后来她告诉我，其实这家店在半年之前曾易过主，旧老板因为接受不了妻子和幼女车祸身亡的现实，一个雨夜里在厨房打开了煤气，他的尸体被第二天上班的服务员发现时就恰恰倒在西大厅上次我睡觉的那个包间门外。
我听了不寒而栗，第二天就辞职离开了那家火锅店，至今也再没去过那家店。可那之后内心久久无法平静，仿佛不经意间眼前就会浮现出那个男人的身影和一张模糊着永远看不清的脸。
