阿智的眼睛有些特殊，有时他能看见别人看不见的东西、有时他看见的景象与别人眼中的所见不同。
记得还是在学龄前的时候，阿智家住在一个废弃了很多年的大车店院子里，除了他家人和一位看大门的人——老林以外，这个院子里没有别的人家。
这里很偏僻，院子四周一面是一条土坯路，另外三面都是庄稼地。
有一天早晨，阿智的妈妈跟那位老林在院子里站着说话，阿智靠在妈妈的腿边上。
突然，阿智冲着院墙那边一指说道：“妈妈，那边有人。”
妈妈和老林顺着阿智的手指方向看去，哪里有人？
妈妈就埋怨阿智：“瞎说，哪有人呐？”
“好几个，都在墙头上站着，手里还拿着绳子。”阿智又继续说。
听阿智如此说，虽然老林什么人也没有看见，但是他似乎意识到了有怪事，就顺手抄起一支洋铁皮水桶，边敲着、边喊道：“来人呐！快抓贼呀！”他其实是在虚张声势，院子里除了他们仨，再无旁人。
敲着、喊了一会儿，老林小声问阿智：“墙头上还有人吗？”
“没了。”阿智摇摇头说。
后来，老林跟阿智妈妈说：“你儿子可能长着‘鬼眼儿’，他能看见咱们看不见的东西，你得信他的话。”
……
参见工作后，有一次，阿智接到通知，去单位里的教育科办事儿，同去的还有另外两名青工小张、小王。
教育科的门虚掩着，里面却没有人，估计科长老庞出去了。阿智三人进屋等庞科长，此刻，他们闲来无事儿，就翻看庞科长办公桌上摊着的书、报。
一拿起书、报，露出了下面的玻璃板，只见玻璃板的一角下面压着一张照片，是庞科长和另一名女子的合影，两人站在一个仿古式的月亮门口照的。他俩分别站在门的两侧：潘科长一手扶着门墙、一手叉腰，看着前方，满脸的喜色；女子则双手后背着，倚在门墙上，两眼含情脉脉地望着潘科长。门内还有一棵大型的盆景。
阿智三人都认识这名女子——刘丽娜，人长得挺漂亮，算得上单位里的一朵花儿。据说她和庞科长是大学同学，上学时两人就关系不一般，后来又一同分到了这个单位。可是不知何故，两人没有结成连理，却都各自成了家。不过，他俩的关系非常，断不了有绯闻传出，也不知是真、是假。
初看照片时，阿智觉得两人照得很自然、也颇有美感，便没有太在意。当他看了一会儿报纸，往回放时，眼睛又扫到了那张照片上。
由于此时的角度不同于方才，阿智吃惊地发现照片已经变了模样。他急忙叫小张、小王：“你们看见这张照片了吗？”
“看见了。”小张、小王都点了点头。
“你们觉得照片奇怪吗？”阿智又问他俩。
小张、小王听到阿智如此问话，便又朝着照片仔细看去，不过他们依然摇头，表示没有见到任何异常。
“你俩站在我这个位置再看看。”说着，阿智让小张、小王分别站在自己刚才的位置看照片。
“阿智，你看到了什么？庞科长和丽娜照得挺好的呀？”小张看了以后问。
“就是，确实挺好的。阿智你是不是看见人家帅哥美女在一起照相，有些眼儿气啦？”小王还损了阿智一句。
看着他俩一副无所谓的面孔，阿智也没好再说什么。恰在此时，庞科长推门进来，寒暄过后，几人便办正事。
又过了几天，当阿智再去找庞科长办事时，他想借机再看看玻璃板下的那张合影照，可是他发现照片没有了。当然，他不好问庞科长那张照片怎么没有了。不过，那天在照片上先后呈现的、截然不同的景象却在他的脑海里久久挥之不去。
那天，他先看到的是前面的描述，一对帅男靓女的休闲照，无比地惬意；后来再看照片时，令他大吃一惊，那张照片上的月亮门、庞科长、丽娜，以及门内的那棵大型盆景分明组成了一个完整的骷髅头：圆圆的脑壳，塌陷的双颊，深深的眼洞、鼻洞和呲着的牙齿。除此之外，再无它物！
“照片是否预示着某种不祥之兆呢？”阿智虽有疑惑，但是不愿意再想下去了。
此后两年之内，庞科长和丽娜均遭遇了不幸：庞科长脑干出血、丽娜患了不治之症。两人年岁都不大，正值盛年，却先后离开了世间。
